BIO
THOMAS C. BRITT An only child in a happy home near Lafayette, Tennessee, Thomas started painting when he was only seven years old. Raised on a farm, Thomas has warm memories of hunting and fishing with his beloved grandfather. These early experiences are reflected in his art. He enjoys painting farm subjects as well as hunting and fishing scenes. Thomas paints every day. He admits to a preference for acrylic paint, as it enables him to create the details that lend realism to his work. He also enjoys creating series art, where he takes a single subject, such as a tractor, and renders it in different makes and models. Thomas served in the U.S. Army and is a Master Mason in a military lodge. Thomas currently resides in a Nashville, Tennessee Correctional Facility. Five of his paintings were accepted for display by the Upstream People Gallery and two of his paintings were chosen for the Top 40 Exhibition Show in Knoxville, Tennessee. His painting, Peter’s Denial of Christ was selected for the Union Street Gallery Juried Art Exhibit. The Well Pump and The Chickadees, Fly Fishing in the Smokies and Bow Hunting Gobblers were selected by the Gadsden Art Association Jury Committee for their Annual Juried Show and were displayed at the Gadsden Museum of Art from July 1 through August 26, 2009. He is a member of the TAL Gallery in Nashville and the Knoxville Art & Culture Alliance.
